Working timetables (NI 1947 and SI 1952) note that the 7 tonners were restricted to being run on mixed and goods trains at the working timetable schedule speeds. No restrictions were listed on lines permitted to be used. The cranes were to be placed in marshal order and were permitted to travel with jib leading or trailing, with a bogie running wagon to be used to carry the jib.
