The photos below are of the CB hauling the logging rake on 7th October 2001.
It was not long after this that the CB overhaul and re-tubing work began.
The timber was milled on-site at Pukemiro Junction only a month later - the club-grown timber was planted when the club first took over the branch line in 1974-75.
The timber was cut specifically for sleepers, but excess was rough-sawn for building use and all timber was sent off site for treatment.
We doubt whether we will ever see this type of bush logging operation again with steam driven equipment in our life time!

Photo cb117-003 - Originally supplied to the Auckland City Council for use on dam building, then went off to Hayward Timber Co. at Waimiha. From there it went to Ellis & Burnand Ltd. at Manunui in 1945 where it ran until 1962. The photo was taken at Manunui. It now resides at The Bush Tramway Club at Rotowaro where some restoration work has been performed. Photo: W.W. Stewart
